Highland Heights, Kent. - #14 Grand Valley State claimed a key 1-0 victory over Great Lakes Regional foe Northern Kentucky Friday night (Sept. 19) in Highland Heights, Kent. GVSU improves to 7-1 on the year, while NKU falls to 4-2-1.
After a scoreless first half, sophomore Mirela Tutundzic put the Lakers on the board with a rebound shot for a goal in the 84th minute of the contest. Senior goalkeeper Melissa Henson recorded the shutout, notching three saves. The Lakers tallied 10 shots on goal.
Grand Valley State, which has played seven of e ight soccer matches on the road this season, will now return home and host three straight matches. The Lakers will host St. Francis (Ind.) on Tuesday (Sept. 23) at 4 p.m.
