Grand Valley State picked up two wins in its trip to West Virginia this weekend. The Lakers are now 5-1 on the season.

GVSU defeated West Virginia Wesleyan, 3-2, on Saturday. At 43:59, Jeanna Falduto scored to put the Lakers up, 1-0. Mirela Tutundzic scored at 57:01 to give GVSU a 2-1 lead and Liz Aceto kicked in the final goal to give the Lakers the 3-2 victory. Melissa Henson tallied three saves for Grand Valley.

On Sunday, GVSU defeated the University of Charleston, 5-0. The Lakers took 26 shots, while only allowing one. Shannon Carrier scored the first goal and Mirela Tutundzic added another to give the Lakers a 2-0 lead at halftime. Tutundzic scored again assisted by Carrier to start the second half. Melissa Bauer kicked one in on a Liz Aceto pass and Erica Rose scored the final goal, assisted by Bauer.

Grand Valley will play its home opener against Aquinas on Sept. 17 at 4:00 p.m.
