California, Pa. - GVSU's Women's Soccer team improved to 4-1 on the season with a 7-0 victory of the Vulcans of California (Pa.). Katy Tafler recored her sixth and seventh goals of the season and added an assist for the Lakers. Megan McCarthy tallied the first two goals of her career. Kristina Nasturzio recorded her fourth consecutive shutout and has let to allow a goal on the year. The Lakers finish up their road trip with an 11 AM match in West Virginia against Wheeling Jesuit.

Grand Valley jumped out to a 3-0 lead just 25 minutes into the game and added another goal before the half. Emily Berner opened up the second half with a goal scored by way of a header just five minutes in. Erica Rose and Jaci Lange each added goals for the Lakers. Grand Valley outshot California 24-5 en route to the 7-0 victory.

Grand Valley heads to West Virginia to take on Wheeling Jesuit before heading home for a weekend doubleheader against Lewis (Sept. 17) and Wisconsin-Parkside (Sept. 18).
