Grand Valley State suffered its first loss of the season, 1-0, to San Fransico State. The Lakers concluded their trip to California with a 2-1 record and are now 3-1 overall.

GVSU took 10 shots during the game, but could not score. The Lakers held San Francisco to 13 shots, but Kristine Marbach kicked in the game-winning goal at 66:37. Melissa Henson made four saves for the Lakers as goalie.

The Lakers will travel to West Virginia, where they will play West Virginia Wesleyan (Sept. 13) and Charleston (Sept. 14).
