Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State tallied three goals in the second half en route to a 4-0 victory against SIUE. Mirela Tutundzic scored twice and added an assist on the day. The Lakers have outscored their opponents 12-0 through three games this season. Freshman Kristina Nasturzio recorded her third consecutive shutout. The Lakers return to action Sunday (Sept. 4), against Missouri-St. Louis at 1 p.m.

Tutundzic opened up the scoring with a goal from eight yards out at the 19 minute mark. Ashley Elsass added her second assist of the year on the goal. SIUE managed only two shots in the first half putting just one on goal that was saved by Nasturzio.

The Lakers opened up the scoring in the second half putting two goals in the net 15 minutes into the second frame. Katy Tafler knocked in her fourth goal of the year at the 57 minute mark on a breakaway. Shannon Carrier tallied her first goal of the season less than three minutes later on a pass from Tutundzic. Tutundzic added her second goal of the game on a breakaway, beating the Cougar keeper one on one. Tafler notched her third point of the game with an assist on the goal.

Kristina Nasturzio turned away six shots on the day, including five in the second half. Nasturzio improves to 3-0 on the year with three consecutive shutouts. The Lakers return to action Sunday (Sept. 4), against Missouri-St. Louis at 1 p.m.
