Grand Valley State remains perfect as it defeated Great Lakes Regional foe Southern Indiana, 4-0, on Sunday. The Lakers improve to 2-0 overall and will play at Missouri-St. Louis on Friday, Sept. 3 at 4:00. The Lakers will play a four-game stint on the road.

GVSU tallied three goals in the first half as junior Jenny Swalec scored on a Shannon Carrier assist at th 12:25 mark. Freshman Susan Christenson posted her first goal for the Lakers at the 21:59 mark. Freshman Kristi Vandeberghe also added her first goal for GVSU at the 44:06 mark to give the Lakers the 3-0 halftime lead.

Junior Katie Rozum scored the last goal of the game on a Jenny Swalec assist in the second half.

Sophomore Erin Murphy recorded the shutout, while posting seven saves.

Grand Valley outshot Southern Indiana 29-13 and tallied 16 shots on goal, while holding USI to just seven.
