Grand Valley State picked up a 4-2 win over Quincy University Friday in its season opener. The Lakers are coming off their best season in GVSU history as they tallied a 17-2-2 mark in 2003 and made their first-ever Great Lakes Regional appearance.

Forward Mirela Tutundzic got her junior season off to another great start as she tallied two of the Laker goals. The 2003 NSCAA Second Team All-American honoree scored both GVSU's first and last goals. Sophomore midfielder Shannon Carrier scored the second goal for the Lakers and forward Jaci Lange kicked in the third goal off a Jeanna Falduto assist.

GVSU led Quincy 3-1 at the half and both teams added a goal each in the second half. Sophomore Erin Murphy allowed one goal, while making three saves and freshman Alex Casper allowed the second half goal.

The Lakers will play Southern Indiana on Sunday, August 29 at 1:00 p.m.
