May 18, 2002 - Saturday - Grand Valley finished the 2002 NCAA Division II Women's Golf National Championships in fifth place with a four round total of 1339. GVSU recorded a 346 total for the fourth day. Marisa Jelsma led the Lakers with a fourth round score of 84, Melissa Sneller shot an 86, and Shannon Briggs added an 87. Suzi Bright recorded an 89 and Ellie Saladin shot a 91 to wrap up the scoring for the Lakers.

Florida Southern won the National Championship with a four day total of 1234. Jana Peterkova from Florida Sourthern was the individual champion with a four day score 306.

Friday - GVSU is now in fourth place after the third round of the 2002 NCAA Division II Women's Golf National Championship. The Lakers shot a 339 today and have a three round total of 993. Shannon Briggs led the way for Grand Valley with a score of 82. Ellie Saladin scored an 83 and Marisa Jelsma shot an 86. Suzi Bright shot an 88 and Melissa Sneller wrapped up the scoring for the Lakers with a 92.

Florida Southern is leading the tournament with a three-day team total of 924. Saturday will conclude the Championships, with tee times beginning at 8:00 am, weather permitting.

Thursday - The Lakers are currently in third place after the second round of the 2002 NCAA Division II Women's Golf National Championship with a score of 654. Grand Valley shot a 320 for the second round. Melissa Sneller is in sixth place overall after shooting a 76 today. Shannon Briggs shot a 78, Ellie Saladin recorded an 84, and Marisa Jelsma shot an 82. Suzi Bright finished the day with an 86.
 

 

Florida Southern continues to lead the tournament with a two-day total of 622. The Championships will continue on Friday, with tee times beginning at 8:00 a.m.

Wednesday - Grand Valley State is in fourth place after the first round of play at the 2002 NCAA Division II Women's Golf National Championship with a total of 334. Melissa Sneller is tied for eighth place with a score of 80. Shannon Briggs and Ellie Saladin finished the day with a score of 84. Suzie Bright shot an 86 and Marisa Jelsema rounded out the scoring for the Lakers with an 89.

Florida Southern is leading the Tournament with a first-round score of 316. The teams will resume play Thursday with the first tee time scheduled for 8:00 a.m.
