Arlington, Ohio - The Grand Valley State women's golf team finished second at the Bing Beall Fall Classic on Monday (Sept. 29) at Sycamore Springs Golf Course in Arlington, Ohio. GVSU totaled a team score of 606 for a +30, two strokes behind champion Ferris State (604, +28).
Grand Valley State followed up a 299 on Sunday with a 307 on Monday for its score of 606. The Lakers finished ahead of Ashland (637, +61), Findlay (645, +69), and Gannon (685, +109), which rounded out the top five.
Individually, GVSU had four players finish in the top-10 and all five golfers in the top-15 of the tournament. Sophomore Allie Tyler was the medalist, firing a 71-75 for a 146, good for +2. She finished three strokes ahead of Alison Meyer of Ferris State, who shot a 149 (+5).
Sophomore Kristina Langton and junior Ashley Smith tied for fifth place, as both golfers shot 152 (+8). Langton shot 77-75, while Smith fired a 75-77. Junior Caitlin Bennett tied for 10th with a 156 (+12) and freshman Sarah Hoffman totaled a 161 (+17) for a 15th place finish.
The team heads to Tampa, Fla. on Oct. 6-7 for the South Florida Tournament at the Waterlefe Golf Club.
