Grand Valley State shot a 305 on Tuesday to capture the Laker Fall Classic team title at the Meadows Golf Course. The Lakers shot a 303 on Monday and the 305 on Tuesday gave them a two-day score of 608. GVSU won the tournament by seven strokes over second place Indianapolis (615) and Ferris State finished in third place with a score of 621.
Freshman Allie Tyler led the way for the Lakers as she tied for third place overall. She fired a 72 yesterday and a 79 today for a two round score of 151, which was seven over par. Freshman Kristina Langton tied for seventh place with a 152, eight over par. She posted an 81 yesterday and came back and shot the lowest score of the round today, a 71. Sophomore Caitlin Bennett also tied for seventh place with a 152, as she recorded a 74 and 78.
Senior Tracey Puckering tied for 18th place with a 158 (76, 82) and sophomore Caitlin Duval tied for 21st place with a two day score of 159 (82, 77).
Grand Valley State had three student-athletes play as individuals in the tournament. Sophomore Ashley Smith tied for 43rd place with a 166 (85, 81), while freshman Carolyn Schaner posted a 167 (81, 86). Junior Michelle Boogaard tied for 58th place as she recorded a score of 171 (86, 85).
