Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State shot a opening round 306 and stands two shots ahead of second-place Indinapolis (308) at the 2008 Laker Fall Classic. California (Pa.) is third (310), Bethel College fourth (312) and Ferris State fifth (313) in the 14-team tournament. Round two will begin at 9 a.m. Tuesday at the Meadows Golf Course (Par 72, 5,923 yards) on the campus of Grand Valley State.

Sophomore Kristina Langton is in a three-way tie for first after shooting a +1 73, while junior Ashley Smith is tied for fifth (75). Sophomore Allie Tyler is tied for 15th after carding a 78 and Caitlin Benett is tied for 28th after shooting an 80.
