GVSU Wins Ferris State Invite by Three Strokes

Grand Valley State won its first tournamant of the fall after scoring a two-day total of 621 at the Ferris State Invite. The Lakers shot a 309 the first day and followed it with a 312 on Sunday.

GVSU shot the second lowest round of the day on Sunday with a 312. Rachael Sinnen tied for third place overall after shooting a two-day total 153. Kristi Vienneau finished fifth (154), after shooting a 75 on day one and a 79 on day two. Melissa Sneller was the third Laker who finished in the top 10, as she tied for eighth place after tallying a 158.

After shooting a 322 on day one, Nebraska-Omaha came back on Sunday and shot a tournament low, 302, to finish three strokes behind the Lakers.

Out of 108 golfers, all six Lakers finished in the top 20. Kate MacDonald shot an 82 and 78 for a two-day total of 160. Shannon Briggs finished 19th with a 165 and Melissa Riegle recorded a 166 for 20th place.

The Lakers will host the Grand Valley Tournament at the Meadows Golf Course on Monday, Sept. 1 and Tuesday, Sept. 2
