Grand Valley State has a 13-stroke lead after day one of the Ferris State Invite. GVSU shot a 309 in round one. Sophomore Kristi Vienneau is in first place overall after shooting a 75 on day one.

Three other Lakers placed in the top ten after the first round. Rachael Sinnen, who is tied for second place, shot a 77, Melissa Sneller is tied for fifth after tallying a 78, and Shannon Briggs is tied for ninth with a 79.

Kate MacDonald and Melissa Riegle rounded out the scoring for the Lakers with an 82 and 87 respectively. Laura Leatherman (80) and Jenny Brinks (97) participated as individuals.

The Lakers will try to hold their lead as play resumes Sunday. GVSU will then host the Grand Valley Tournament at the Meadows Golf Course on Monday and Tuesday.
