Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State is in fifth place after three rounds at the NCAA DII Women's Golf Championships in Howey in the Hills, Florida. The Lakers shot their third straight score of 332 as a team on Friday to finish the day at +120 for the tournament. GVSU is in the middle of a group of four teams that have only five strokes seperating third place Northern Colorado (+116) and sixth place Longwood (+121). Shannon Briggs and Melissa Sneller both shot 82 on Friday to lead the Lakers. The championship will conclude with the final round of 18-holes on Saturday.
Melissa Sneller is in eighth place as an individual after the first three rounds as she has shot scores of 80-77-82 in the first three rounds or +19 on the par 73 course. Shannon Briggs is in 27th overall as she is +35 overall. Melissa Reigle and Nikki Augustine both shot 84 to finish the scoring for GVSU on Friday.
Rollins College has pulled away from the rest of the eight teams at the championships and leads second place Florida Southern by 32 strokes after being only +56 over as a team.
