Results

Grand Valley State's women's golf team finished in sixth place at the NCAA DII Women's Golf National Championships in Orlando, Florida. The Lakers concluded the fourth day with a 323. GVSU tallied a four-round score of 1280.

Rollins College claimed the national championship title with a four-day total of 1196, while Ferris State and Florida Southern tied for second place with a total score of 1264. Northeastern State came in at a close fourth place with 1265 and Western Washington took fifth place with 1279.

Junior Melissa Sneller finished first overall for the Lakers, tying for 12th place overall with a four-day score of 312 (79, 76, 80, 77). Enid Gage took 23rd place with a score of 320 (76, 84, 79, 81), Kristi Vienneau shot a 322 (82, 82, 76, 82), which tied her for 26th, and Melissa Riegle tied for 30th with a 327 (83, 82, 78, 84). Shannon Briggs rounded out the scoring for Grand Valley with a 341 (86, 88, 84, 83).

The trip to the National Championships was the third for the Lakers in the last four years. Last season, GVSU finished fourth in the nation. In 2001-02, GVSU was fifth and in 1999-00, the Lakers were sixth.
