Houston, Tx. - Grand Valley State University's women's golf team cut 18 strokes off of its day one total, finishing at a 296 on day two of the NCAA National Championships. The Lakers moved into a tie for fourth place, led by Ashley Smith, who is tied for eighth place overall with a two-day total of five over. The third round will be tomorrow in Houston, Tx.

Smith shot a 75 on day two, very close to her day one total of 74, and putting her at 149 total. Caitlin Bennett is right behind her at a six-over 150. Bennett shot a two-over 74 on the second day. Allie Tyler also shot 74 on the second day and is now tied for 24th place at 154. Kristina Langton and Tracey Puckering both playing strongly on day two after shooting 12-over 84 on day one. Langton shot a team-best 73 to finish the two days at 157 and in 30th place, while Puckering shot a 75 on day two and is tied for 35th at 159.
