Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State shot a final round 319 and claimed fourth place in the team standings with a 54-hole total of 963 at the 2006 NCAA DII Women's Golf National Championship held at The Meadows Golf Course on the campus of Grand Valley State. It marked the fourth time in the last five years the Lakers finished among the top five at the NCAA Championships. Rollins College captured its fourth straight NCAA DII Women's Golf National Championship with a 919 and Mariana De Biase took home medalist honors with a 220 (+4).
The Lakers entered the final round five shots ahead of hard charging Western New Mexico and Western Washington, but GVSU never gave up its lead en route to the fourth-place finish. Senior Laura Leatherman led the way with a final round 77 and finished 23rd in the individual standings with a 54-hole total of 240. Junior Kate MacDonald finished 25th with a 243, while senior Kristi Vienneau was 26th with a championship total of 244. Freshman Tracey Puckering finished 30th (246) and Enid Gage concluded her career with a 247 that tied her for 32nd.
