Allendale, Mich. - Ashley Smith helped Grand Valley State University hold onto first place in day two of the NCAA Great Lakes Regional by shooting a day-best 74. The Lakers, who held a five-stroke lead heading into the second day, are still one stroke ahead of Ferris State, who shot a 305 on the day. GVSU has a total score of 621 and will tee off tomorrow at 9 a.m.

Smith's 74 on day two, combined with her 78 on day one, put her in a tie for the lead heading into the last day, which means she will tee off in the final group. Kristina Langton, who led the event after one day, is now tied for third after shooting a 77 in the second day. Caitlin Bennett is also in the top ten, tied for eighth place at 157 (79-78). Tracey Puckering is in sole possession of 11th place with 159 (79-80) and Allie Tyler is right behind her in a tie for 12th place at 160 (79-81).
