Big Rapids, Mich. - The Grand Valley State women's golf team placed second at the NCAA DII Great Lakes Women's Golf Regional at Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids, Mich. to advance to the NCAA DII Women's Golf National Championships May 12-15 in Orlando, Florida. This marks the third time in the last four years the Lakers have advanced to the national championship under head coach Lori Stinson.

GVSU shot a three-round total of 965, just two shots back of GLIAC rival Ferris State (963). The Lakers began the day six strokes back of the Bulldogs and seven strokes ahead of third-place Northern Kentucky. However, GVSU shot the low round (321) of the day to pull within two shots of FSU and move 11 strokes ahead of NKU. The top two teams advance to the National Championship.

GVSU's Enid Gage shot the individual low round of the day and moved from third to tied for first in the overall standings. Gage shot a three-round total of 232 to take medalist honors with Norhtern Kentucky's Kim Keyer-Scott (232). Gage made a 20-foot birdie put on the final hole to move into a tie for first.

Kristi Vienneau placed fourth with a three-round 236, while Melissa Sneller tied for 13th with a 248. Shannon Briggs tallied a three-day total of 250 and finished 18th, while Melissa Riegle fired a 254 (T23rd).
