Grand Valley State won its third consecutive GLIAC Women's Golf Championship on Friday in 36 holes of action in Ashland, Ohio. The Lakers tallied a winning score of 612, nine-strokes ahead of second place Ferris State. Senior Melissa Sneller (75, 72) claimed the individual title for the second straight season by two strokes with a score of 147.

Junior Enid Gage tallied a two round score of 156 (74, 82), followed by junior Kristi Vienneau (77, 80) and sophomore Kate MacDonald (81, 76) who each posted a 157. Junior Laura Leatherman shot a total of 162 (83, 79), while senior Shannon Briggs posted a score of 171 (93, 78).

The Lakers will compete as one of the six teams in the NCAA Division II East Regional on May 2-3 at The Meadows in Allendale, Mich. The top two teams from the 54-hole East Regional will advance to the NCAA Championship May 11-14 in Alberquerque, New Mexico at The Championship Course at the University of New Mexico.
