Midland, Mich. - Grand Valley State finished second at the 2006 GLIAC Championships with a 54-hole score of 916. The Lakers finished three shots behind Ferris State. Grand Valley State will next compete in the NCAA DII Regional at Findlay May 1-2.

The Lakers had to finish its second round Sunday morning after rain shortened what was suppose to be a 36-hole Saturday. The Lakers concluded second-round action with a 303, five shots better than the Bulldogs and turned a one-shot FSU lead into a four-shot Laker advantage heading into the final 18. However, Ferris State fired a final round 304, while the Lakers carded a final 18 score of 311.

Kristi Vienneau finished third with a 54-hole total of 229. Freshman Tracey Puckering finished fifth with a three-round total of 231, while Laura Leatherman was sixth with a 232. Kate MacDonald tied for seventh with a 233 and Enid Gage was 11th with a 236. Melissa Riegle rounded out the Laker lineup with a 12th-place total of 237.

Kristi Vienneau was named First-Team All-GLIAC, while Laura Leatherman and Kate MacDonald earned Second-Team All-GLIAC plaudits. Melissa Riegle and Tracey Puckering earned honorable mention all-GLIAC honors.
