Midland, Mich. - Grand Valley State carded an opening round score of 302 at the GLIAC Championships in Midland, Michigan and currently stand one shot back of first-round leader Ferris State (301). Teams were supposed to play 36 holes on Saturday, but a thunderstorm that went through the Midland area caused a delay of about 90 minutes. About half the field completed their second round. The rest of the players will complete their rounds at 8 a.m. Sunday. Ashland (327), Findlay (336), Gannon (354) and Mercyhurst (359) round out the field.
Senior Kristi Vienneau led the way with an opening-round score of 74. Vienneau, who is in third place, shot a 35 on the back nine. Kate MacDonald is tied for fourth after carding a 75, while Melissa Riegle is tied for seventh following an opening 18 76. Enid Gage shot a 77 and is ninth, while Laura Leatherman tallied a 78 and is tied for 10th. Tracey Puckering is tied for 12th after shooting a 79.
Grand Valley State will conclude the second round Sunday morning before concluding the tournament with the final 18.
