Findlay, Ohio - Grand Valley State shot a final round 303 and finished with a 54-hole total of 907 to claim the 2008 GLIAC Women's Golf Championship at Sycamore Creek Golf Club in Findlay, Ohio. The title was the Lakers' fifth since 2001 (2001, 2003, 2004, 2005, 2008). The Lakers were 20 shots ahead of second place Ferris State (927) and 50 shots in front of Ashland (957). Grand Valley State will now prepare for the NCAA East Regional to be held at the Meadow's Golf Course on the campus of Grand Valley State May 5-7. The top two teams from the East Regional will advance to the NCAA Championships.
Ashley Smith moved into contention for the GLIAC individual title with a final round 75 for a 54-hole total of 226. Smith tied Ferris State's Becky Hoffman for top honors, but Hoffman was crowned champion with a birdie on the first playoff hole. Tracey Puckering shot a final round 75 and finished third with a two-day total of 227, while Caitlin Benett shot a 228 and finished fourth. Kristina Langston carded a final 18 75 and finished 6th with a final 54-hole total of 233. Allie Tyler was 9th (236) and Caitlin Duval was 19th (249).
