Grand Valley State University placed second in the 19-team Indiana Invitational over the weekend. The Lakers tallied a two-round score of 629, just nine strokes behind first place Notre Dame. GVSU was one of three Division II schools in the tournament, while the other 16 were Division I.
The Lakers tallied a 317 in the first round, followed by a 312 in round two. Grand Valley was led by junior Enid Gage who tied for fifth after recording a two round score of 154 (75, 79). Senior Melissa Sneller (81, 74) and junior Kristi Vienneau (78, 77) both tied for ninth place after tallying a 155. Junior Laura Leatherman tied for 36th place, shooting an 83, 82 for a total of 165. Sophomore Kate MacDonald posted a 168 (86, 82), tying for 65th place and senior Shannon Briggs rounded out the scoring as she finished with a 170 (83, 87), which tied for 79th place.
The Lakers are schedule to play in a two-day tournament at the Univesity of Illinois on Friday, April 8 and Saturday, April 9.
