St. Cloud, Fla. - The GVSU Women's Golf Team finished third at the Grand Valley Spring Invite at the Royal St. Cloud Golf Course in St. Cloud, Fla. Freshman Ashley Smith and junior Tracey Puckering finished in a tie for sixth with a two day total of 156. The Lakers will travel to Newport, Ky. to play at Northern Kentucky on Mar. 24 and 25.

GVSU (638) finished five strokes short of second place finisher Loyola University (633) and 21 strokes behind tournament winner, Detroit-Mercy (617). Smith and Puckering led the squad with a pair of 156's both finishing in a tie for sixth individually. Michelle Boogaard fired a 160 for a tie for ninth place. Freshman Caitlin Bennett finished in a tie for 17th after firing a 167.
