Kiawah Island, S.C. - Grand Valley State fired a second-round total of 326 to overtake Northern Kentucky for fourth place at the 2005 Tusculum College/Kawah Island Women's Intercollegiate Tournament Saturday (Feb. 5) and Sunday (Feb. 6). Central Arkansas claimed top honors with a 627, followed by West Florida (636), Nova Southeastern (650) and Grand Valley State (661).

Senior Melissa Sneller fired a two-day total of 157 to finish tied for fifth. Sneller opened the tourney with an 81, but followed with a 76 which tied for the second-lowest round of the tourney. Enid Gage finished 19th with a 166, while Kristi Vienneau shot a 167 and finished 21st. Laura Leatherman tied for 26th (171) and Melissa Riegle was 40th (179).

"I was really happy with the way we played," said GVSU head coach Lori Stinson. "It was our first opportunity to play outside in 2005 and I felt like our entire team did a nice job of managing the course," added Stinson.

Sneller, who earned all-america honors a year ago, was named to the all-tournament team for her efforts.
