Grand Valley State's women's basketball team was picked to win the GLIAC North Division by the league's head coaches. GVSU received three first place votes and 33 total points. Lake Superior State also receieved three first place votes, but finished in second place with 28 total points.
Ferris State tallied the remaining first place vote and received 26 total points, while Northern Michigan took fourth place with 24 points. Michigan Tech tallied 19 points, Northwood was in sixth place with 11 points, and Saginaw Valley State rounded out the scoring with six points.
In the South Division, Wayne State tallied two first place votes and 22 total points to finish in first place. Gannon also tallied two first place votes, but had 21 total points, while Ashland recorded two first place votes as well and had 20 total points. Findlay came in fourth place with 13 points, while Hillsdale tallied nine points for fifth place. Mercyhurst rounded out the South with five points for sixth place.
Last season, Grand Valley State set the single-season school record for wins (24) and advanced to the NCAA Tournament for the first time in four years. Lake Superior State defeated GVSU in the final game of the GLIAC Tournament to capture the league title.
