Allendale, Mich. - Grand Valley State has announced the signing of Lindsay McCarty, a high school recruit from Grand Rapids Catholic Central and a member of the Cougars' 2009-10 state championship team. McCarty is a 5'11" post player that averaged nine points and six rebounds a game during her senior season, as GRCC went 27-1 en route to the state title.
McCarty was a four-year varsity letterwinner during her time at Grand Rapids Catholic Central, as she averaged nearly seven points and close to five rebounds per game during her career. The Cougars combined to put together a tremendous 93-9 record during her four seasons, including the Michigan Class B State Championship last season and a runner-up finish in her junior year of 2008-09.
An All-OK Gold Conference selection, McCarty was voted as the team captain during her senior season and also earned all-area plaudits in both her junior and senior years. She was also a four-year member of the GRCC lacrosse team and competed in swimming and diving for one season.
Grand Valley State head coach Janel Burgess is thrilled to have McCarty on board for the 2010-11 collegiate season. "Lindsay is a proven champion in all aspects of her career," said Burgess. "She is an extremely driven and hard working young lady who will raise our level of play in the post position. We are excited to have her join our Laker basketball family."
