Laker Basketball Doubleheader vs. Wayne State To Be Televised

Allendale, Mich. - The basketball doubleheader between Grand Valley State and Wayne State on Thursday night (Feb. 25) will be broadcast on radio and television. Comcast will carry the games on television (on channels 900/901) with Tom Cleary and Ron Merrihew calling all the play-by-play action, while Steve Lloyd-Jones and Kent Fisher will serve as the radio duo on 106.9, WMUS.

GVSU and Wayne State's women's teams will tip off at 6:00 p.m. in a game that the Lakers need to win. After a rare three-game losing streak, Grand Valley State is 17-8 overall and tied for second in the GLIAC with a 14-6 league record. The Lakers are ranked sixth in the latest Midwest Regional rankings, with the top eight teams advancing to the NCAA Tournament. Wayne State is 8-17 overall with a 6-14 conference mark. The Lakers defeated WSU, 69-61, in a road victory on Jan. 23.

On the men's side, Grand Valley State is tied for first place in the GLIAC with a 15-5 conference record, while the Lakers are 19-6 overall. GVSU has won nine of its last 10 home contests and are third in the Midwest Regional rankings released on Wednesday (Feb. 24). Wayne State is 12-12 overall with a 10-10 league tally. Grand Valley State came from behind to defeat the Warriors, 57-48, on Jan. 23 in Detroit.
