The Lakers led from start to finish in the regular season finale, beginning with a 10-0 run to start the game. The seniors kicked off the final game in style, as consecutive trifectas by senior Breanna Kellogg (DeWitt, Mich.) started the game off, then a jumper from Kellie Watson (Ionia, Mich.) and free throws by Alex Stelfox (Bowie, Md.) put the Lakers on top 10-0 just four minutes in to the game.

The lead ballooned to 19-4 just seven minutes in after sophomore Kat LaPrairie (Rockford, Mich.) hit a triple try at the 13:44 mark.

The largest lead in the first half would be 18, which GVSU got to after a pair of free throws by Stelfox fell to make it a 30-12 game with 8:19 to play in the opening stanza.

Stelfox would end the first half with 10 points on 3-of-3 shooting from the field and 4-of-4 shooting from the line to go with six rebounds. Kellogg had eight points, while Watson and senior Briauna Taylor (Livonia, Mich.) each had six points and two rebounds. All told, the seniors in the first half combined to go 11-for-20 for 30 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Lakers in to the locker room with a 41-26 lead.

Four minutes in to the second half, GVSU extended the lead out to 20, the largest of the game, after a pair of free throws by Taylor to make it 50-30.

Ferris State then held serve up to the 4:44 mark, when a Kellogg lay-up made it a 63-47 Laker lead. From there, the Bulldogs went on a 10-point run thanks to a pair of three-pointers and a pair of two-point buckets to cut the lead to eight at 65-57 with 2:13 to play.

After a GVSU timeout, the Lakers responded with three straight points from Taylor, all off free throws, to push the lead back out to 11 at 68-57 with only 37 seconds to play. Ferris State would not threaten again, as the Lakers closed out the 70-59 victory.
