Allendale, Mich. - 18th-ranked Grand Valley State jumped out to a 39-19 halftime lead and never looked back en route to a 72-40 victory over Saginaw Valley State in GLIAC action Thursday (Feb. 13) at the GVSU Arena. GVSU improves to 21-4 overall and 12-4 in GLIAC action, while SVSU drops to 4-19 and 0-15.

Seniors Laurie Rehmann and Jennifer Nielsen, playing their final regular season game in the GVSU Fieldhouse Arena, led the way for Grand Valley State. Nielsen tallied 13 points, four assists and four rebounds, while Rehmann added 15 points, six assists and four rebounds. Sophomore Janine Guastella was perfect on the night, hitting 4-of-4 from the floor and 7-of-7 from the charity stripe. Eleven Lakers reached the scoring column. Diana Voikos chipped in eight points and six rebounds, while Julie Zeeff added seven points and seven rebounds.

GVSU limited SVSU to just 30.4 percent shooting from the floor and forced the Cardinals into 20 turnovers. Grand Valley State improved to 21-1 when holding teams to 65 points or less and finished the regular season home slate with a 12-1 record. GVSU will hit the road for the final two regular season games. The Lakers will be at Michigan Tech next Thursday (Feb. 20) and at Northern Michigan February 22.
