Final Stats

Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. - Grand Valley State was unable to overcome early foul trouble and a 10 point halftime defecit in a 68-59 loss to Lake Superior State Monday (Feb. 9) night. GVSU falls to 9-12 overall and 6-7 in GLIAC action, while Lake Superior State improves to 18-3 and 11-2.

LSSU jumped out to a 32-22 halftime lead and never looked back en route to a GLIAC home win. GVSU was hampered by early foul trouble that limited leading scorer and rebounder Julie Zeeff to just 22 minutes of action. Grand Valley State was whistled for 31 fouls in the contest and LSSU converted 21-of-26 free throws. Grand Valley State was led by GLIAC Freshman of the Year candidate Julia Braseth's 17 points and three steals before fouling out of the game. Senior guard Cori Jewett added 14 points on 4-of-6 shooting from three-point range. Freshman Taushauna Churchwell added 10 points. Zeeff was limited to just two points and 10 rebounds before fouling out. GVSU hit 7-of-14 three's, but converted just 14-of-26 free throws.
