University Center, Mich. - Grand Valley State dropped an 87-78 decision at Saginaw Valley State Monday (Jan. 26) evening in a GLIAC tilt. The loss snapped the Lakers' four-game GLIAC winning streak and evened GVSU's league ledger at 4-4 (7-9).

Saginaw Valley State used an incredible shooting performance in the opening 20 minutes to lay claim to a 49-46 lead after 20 minutes of action. GVSU led briefly (69-68) in the second half, but SVSU, which hit 30-of-50 shots (60.0 %) from the floor in the game, continued its marksmanship in the closing minutes. SVSU also hit 6-of-10 three-pointers.

Senior guard Cori Jewett led five Lakers in double figures with 15 points. Julia Braseth added 14 points, while Julie Zeeff chipped in 13, Peaches Churchwell 12 and Erika Ryskamp 10. Grand Valley State will host Findlay in a key GLIAC matchup Thursday at 6 p.m.
