Grand Valley State picked up a 71-61 win over GLIAC foe Hillsdale Saturday afternoon. The Lakers improve to 5-8 overall and 2-3 in GLIAC play.

GVSU had four players who scored in double figures and were led by senior center Julie Zeeff who tallied a game-high 19 points and 14 rebounds. Freshman guard Erika Ryskamp recorded 17 points, while senior guard Cori Jewett added 10 points. Freshman forward Julia Braseth tallied her third double-double, recording 14 points and 12 rebounds. Seven of her 12 boards came off the offensive glass.

The Lakers held a 32-27 halftime lead and outscored the Chargers, by five in the second half to seal the win. Grand Valley outrebounded Hillsdale, 44-31 and recorded 14 more free throw attempts than the Chargers.

The Lakers will return home next week for two GLIAC contests as they host Mercyhurst on Thursday, Jan. 22 at 6:00 p.m. and Gannon on Saturday, Jan. 24 at 1:00 p.m.
