Abby Wiseman is beginning her fifth season as an assistant coach for the Grand Valley State women's basketball team. Wiseman joined the Lakers staff after serving as an assistant coach for the women's basketball team at Eastern Michigan University four years ago.

GVSU is 74-40 during Wiseman's three years with the Laker program, including a trip in 2008-09 to the NCAA Tournament.

At Eastern Michigan, Wiseman was the recruiting coordinator and the compliance liaison. As the recruiting coordinator, she identified and recruited student-athletes on a national level and delivered presentations to families in order to build relationships between recruits, the basketball program and families. She also conducted individual workouts with the post players and helped teach skills and run drills at practices. Wiseman helped guide All-MAC honoree Sarah Vanmetre as the Eagles finished in second place in the MAC West Division.

Prior to EMU, Wiseman was an assistant coach at Central Michigan University for two years, where she also worked with the post players. She managed the film exchange with other collegiate programs and conducted scouting reports. Wiseman also organized summer basketball camps, including hiring the staff. During the 2005-06 season, Wiseman helped the Chippewas to the most wins in 13 years, including a school record 6-0 start. She also coached two-time All-MAC player Ann Skufca.

Wiseman was a four-year letterwinner at Eastern Michigan as she played from the 1999-00 season to 2002-03. She played in 115 games, starting in 84 of those contests and averaged 10.8 points per game. Wiseman is in the 1,000 point and 500 rebound clubs at EMU as she tallied 1,244 career points and 598 rebounds. Her 1,244 points is 12th best and her 598 rebounds ranks 11th in Eagles history. Wiseman was also a two-time All-MAC honoree.

She graduated from Eastern Michigan in May 2004 with a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Education. She majored in language, literature, and writing, while minoring in communications/theatre arts. Wiseman was on the Dean's List for five semesters and was an NCAA Scholar Athlete all four years. She is finishing her Masters of Arts in Educational Leadership at Central Michigan University.

Wiseman currently teaches at Kenowa Hills High School. She teaches English, Speech, Broadcasting, Journalism, and Debate.
