Jon Mock enters his third season as an assistant coach with the GVSU women's basketball team.
In 2010-11, GVSU posted a 20-8 overall record while picking up a 13-6 mark in conference action, earning its seventh straight GLIAC tournament appearance. The Lakers also earned an NCAA Tournament berth.
The Lakers went 18-10 with a 15-7 record in the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) in 2009-10, making a sixth straight appearance in the GLIAC Tournament.
At Grand Valley State, Mock is responsible for all computer input of team and opponent plays and for film exchange with opposing teams. He also assists in player development, practice implementation, and recruiting and player evaluation. Mock organizes team travel and supervises and instructs the team managers and practice squad players.
Prior to coming to GVSU, Mock spent eight years working with the basketball teams in the Eaton Rapids school system. He spent six seasons as the head coach of the Eaton Rapids High School junior varsity boys team, four years as head coach of the freshman girls team at Eaton Rapids, and spent two years with the Eaton Rapids Middle School boys and girls 8th-grade teams. As a high school camp counselor, Mock helped organize camp schedules, oversaw all camp activities, and was responsible for camp promotion, along with usual coaching duties.
Mock will earn his bachelor of science degree in physical education with an emphasis on coaching from Grand Valley State in May 2011.
