Grand Valley State cross country head coach Jerry Baltes announced the signing of Mike Segal to run for the Lakers in the 2006 season. Segal prepped at Warwick High School in Warwick, New York, where his team this season was ranked 21st in the nation by Harrier Magazine.
Segal owns the Warwick High School record in the steeplechase with a time of 9:37. He also has PR's of 4:27 and 9:40 in the 1,600 and 3,200, respectively.
Mike was his team's captain for the past two seasons and was named the NYS federation and all-state during his high school career.
"We are excited to add Mike to our distance roster," said Baltes. "We feel Mike has the physical and mental abilities to help our program excell at the highest level possible."
"Mike has some great accomplishments to his running resume," added Baltes. "He is part of one of the best high school programs in the nation."
