The 2002 Great Lakes Regional Men's and Women's team championships were won by Grand Valley State University. Grand Valley State's men finished with a total of 55 points. Also qualifying for NCAA Nationals and finishing second for the men was Hillsdale College. The men's race was won by Nick Cordes from Ashland with a time of 31:22. Four individuals will advance to NCAA Nationals including Cordes, Joey Byrne from Southern Indiana in third, Brian Goodwin from Wayne State in fourth, and Mike Cropper from Lewis in fifth.

Grand Valley won the women's race with a total of 33 points. Also qualifying for NCAA Nationals for the women in the top five spots were Northern Michigan in second, Wayne State in third, Wisconsin Parkside in fourth, and Southern Indiana in fifth. Caitlin Compton of Nothern Michigan was the individual winner of the women's race with a time of 21:53. Individuals qualifying for NCAA Nationals were Tara Griffin from Ashland, who finished fourth, and Natalie Malone from Indianapolis who finished tenth.
