Grand Rapids, Mich. - The nationally-ranked Grand Valley State men's cross country team took home a second-place finish at the Michigan Intercollegiates in Grand Rapids, Mich. on Friday afternoon (Oct. 9). GVSU totaled a team score of 55 points, behind first-place Michigan with 32. Eastern Michigan finished third with 66 points, followed by Aquinas (167) and Calvin College (178).
Sophomore Tyler Emmorey came in a close second-place with a time of 25:09, just a second behind Peter Christmas of Michigan. GVSU's Paul Zielinski crossed the finish line seventh with a time of 25:27, followed by Ross Faasse in 11th (25:46). Sophomores Anthony Witt came in 17th (25:53.1), while Jeff Nordquist was right behind finishing 18th (25:53.5). Sophomore Ryan Toth placed 21st with a time of 26:01 and redshirt freshman Ben Steavenson came in 23rd (26:02).
The Laker's team score was 2:08:10 and they had an average time of 25:38. Grand Valley State will compete at the GLIAC Championship on Saturday, Oct. 24 in Saginaw, Mich. at 11:00 a.m.
