Grand Valley State tallied the minimum 15 points, taking the top five spots at the Aquinas Open. Host school Aquinas took second place with 56 points. GVSU will run at the Ferris State Open on Friday, Sept. 22 at 4:00 p.m.

Junior Nate Peck broke his own school record, finishing the race in a time of 24:31.00. Junior James Gale placed second, running a 25:20.00, while senior Ryan Holm finished third in a time of 25:20.00. Senior Nic Gatlin took fourth place (25:20.00), while senior Chris Pabst ran a 25:21.00 for a fifth place finish.

Junior Grant Fall took seventh place in a time 25:26.00 and junior Robbie Young ran a time of 25:27.00 for eighth place. Senior Casey Abston finished in 10th place, tallying a time of 25:46.00.

"This was a great start for our men. We ran the first half of the race very controlled and were able to race very fast off of that," said head coach Jerry Baltes. "This was the best start to a season in the eight years I have been here."

"We had numerous personal best in the meet," added Baltes. "The key will be to continue to improve and look to race even faster come November. We will get back to training at a high level for the next two weeks."
