Grand Rapids, Mich. - Nate Peck outran the field by 14 seconds at the Aquinas College Cross Country Open to lead Grand Valley State to a first-place finish. Peck's time of 25:38.00 in the 8000-meter race put him well ahead of the field, while Chris Hammer finished second with a time of 25:52.00. Five other Lakers finished in the top ten.

James Gale's time of 26:11.00 put him in fourth place, while Robbie Young was right behind him in fifth place, finishing with a time of 26:16.00. Ross Faasse's time of 26:21.00 put him in seventh place while Grant Fall's time of 26:24.00 put him just behind, finishing in eighth place. Curtis Barclay was the final Laker in the top ten, placing tenth with a time of 26:29.00.

Nathan Knisely was the top unattached runner for Grand Valley State, finishing in 12th place with a time of 26:32.00. Tim Armstrong also finished in the top 20 for GVSU, placing 17th with a time of 26:44.00.

Grand Valley's team score of 19 was well ahead of second-place Aquinas. The host school put up a score of 53 to finish second. Indiana Tech finished third with a score of 97. GVSU's total time of 2:10.18.00 was almost two minutes ahead of second place.
