Grand Valley State's track and field teams were recognized for their success in the classroom. The women's indoor and outdoor team tallied a 3.31 GPA, which is 11th amongst Division II team. The men's indoor and outdoor team complied a 3.01 GPA, which is 10th in Division II.

Two Lakers were named to the 2003 Men's All-Academic Individual Team. Nick Hoeve complied a 3.692 GPA in Biomedical Science and Dave Siik recorded a 3.566 in Biomedical Science.

Ten Laker women earned 2003 Women's All-Academic Individual Team honors. Kati Smith has a 3.50 (Biology), Leanne Budde tallied a 3.458 (Health Science), Steph Kulhman had a 3.454 (English Education), Erica Helmila recorded a 3.425 (English Education), and Rebecca Meyers got a 3.314 (Education Psychology). Jeannette Seckinger tallied a 3.734 in Photography, Katie Willis has a 3.672 (Education), Steph Sliwinski had a 3.661 in Education, Krista O'Dell tallied a 3.656 (Health Science) and Megan Doerr had a 3.536 in Criminal Justice.
