Grand Valley State had three student athletes compete at the USA Track and Field Championships held at the IU Michael A. Carroll Track & Soccer Stadium on the campus of IUPUI in Indianapolis, Ind.

Senior Mandi Zemba finished in 16th place in a time of 16:27.66. The time was her third fastest time of her career. "Though it was not the results we were hoping for, it was a great experience to run in front of over 10,000 fans and learn a lot about racing the best in the country," said head coach Jerry Baltes.

Freshman Curtis Barclay finished ninth out of 20 runners in the steeplechase with a time of 9:29.76. The time ranks Barclay as the fourth fastest athlete in the steeplechase in GVSU history.

Freshman Bryant Wilson finished tied for 11th after clearing a height of 15-7 in the pole vault.

"This was a great learning experience for Barclay and Wilson," said Baltes. "They saw and competed against some of the best track and field athletes the country has to offer."
