GVSU Signs 20 Student-Athletes For 2007-08 Season

Grand Valley State men's cross country and track & field head coach Jerry Baltes announced the signing of 21 student-athletes for the 2007-08 season.

Carlton Allen (Sterling Heights, Mich./Henry Ford), Austin Brown (Sturgis, Mich.), and Zach Mills (Tekonsma, Mich./Coldwater) will compete as middle distance runners. Alex Best (Alma, Mich./St. Louis), Jason Dahl (Jenison, Mich.), Aaron Denner (Holland, Mich./West Ottawa), Neal Duggan (Troy, Mich./Athens), Tyler Emmorey (Cedar Springs, Mich.), Miles Hunsinger (Frankfort, Mich./Benzie Central), Nathan Knisely (Coldwater, Mich.), Dan Lucas (Grand Ledge, Mich.), Max Sadler (South Lyon, Mich.), Kevin Tarczon (Traverse City, Mich./West), Ryan Toth (North Liberty, Ind./New Prairie), and Paul Zielinski (Columbus, Ind./North) will all be distance runners for the Lakers.

Caleb Cartman (Hazel Crest, Ill./Hillcrest), Mark Truss (Kalamazoo, Mich./Central, Craig Rumpf Jr. (Niles, Mich.), and Eric Lowe (St. John's, Mich./Fulton) will compete as sprinters for the Lakers. Nathaniel Smith (Bloomington, Ill.) will run the 800 meter and compete in the triple jump, while Weston Buchan (Cedar, Mich./Maple City-Glenn Lake) will be a jumper for GVSU.

"We are very excited about our incoming class," said Baltes. "It is a very talented and deep class that we feel can help us continue to compete and and excel at a very high level."

"We feel the potential in this class is outstanding," added Baltes. "We feel there are a handful of individuals that can step in and contribute right away."
