Grand Valley State opened the 2005-06 Indoor Track and Field season at home on Friday. The Laker men recorded three NCAA Qualifying marks in the season opener. GVSU will resume to action as they host the Mike Lints Laker Challenge on Jan. 20 at 4:00 p.m.

Sophomore Nate Peck recorded an NCAA Qualifying time of 14:30.74 as he finished first in the 5,000 meter run. Sophomore John Collins won the 800 meter run in a qualifying time of 1:54.09, while sophomore Dan Jackson placed first in the 55 meter hurdles, recording a qualifying time of 7.64.

"This was a solid start for us to see where we are at," said head coach Jerry Baltes. "We have some great potential, but we also understand we have a long way to go a lot of work to do to accomplish what we want to."
