Sophomore Casey Fechter finished in 11th place in the hammer throw with a mark of 182'01" on the final day of the NCAA Division II Track & Field National Championships in Abilene, Texas.

Don Wilkins placed ninth in the 5,000 meter run, recording a time of 14:35.83. The men's 4x400 relay team consisting of sophomore Joe LeFevre, freshman Bill Makela, freshman Kris Oglesbee, and junior Kenny Coleman took eighth place and scored a point for GVSU with a time of 3:11.47.

The Laker men finished in 32nd place with six total points.
