Walnut, Calif. - Mike Stowe added another three points to Grand Valley State's point total at the NCAA Outdoor National Championships on Friday, picking up a sixth-place finish in the decathlon. The Lakers, who are now in 10th place overall with nine points, will conclude the meet on Saturday, May 24.
After finishing the first five events yesterday with a total of 3367 points, Stowe capped off the final day with a total of 6581. His biggest point total came in the 110-meter hurdles, where his time of 15.19 seconds earned him 827 points.
In the qualifying events, both Nate Peck and Nick Polk advanced to the finals in the 5000-meter run. Peck's time in the qualifying heat was 14:44.23, while Polk came in at 14:34.41. Peck enters the finals ranked eighth, with Polk one behind at ninth.
