Grand Valley State's men's track and field team broke three school records and set eight NCAA Qualifying marks at the Dr. Keeler Invite at North Central College in Naperville, Ill. The Lakers will participate in the NCAA Division II National Championships in Abilene, Texas on May 26-28.
John Collins broke the school record in the 800 meter with a time of 1:51.84. The previous mark of 1:51.91 was set in 2003 by Dave Siik. Bryan Boeve posted an NCAA Qualifying time of 1:52.18 in the 800 meter as well. Kenny Coleman improved on his qualifying time as he ran a 47.72 in the 400 meter. Danny Jackson ran the 100 hurdles in 14.62 and Bill Makela posted a time of 53.06 in the 400 hurdles, both were qualifying times. Josh Harris recorded a qualifying throw of 54.38 meters in the hammer.
Robbie Young broke his own school record in the 3000 steeplechase of 9:14.7. The 4x400 relay team of Joe LeFevre, Bryan Boeve, Kris Ogelsbee, and Kenny Coleman broke the previous record with a time of 3:12.45. The old record of 3:14.24 was set in 2001 by Jeremy Wurtz, TJ Stark, Mark Karwowski, and Pat Garrett. The relay team's splits were LeFevre 47.5, Boeve 49.7, Ogelsbee 47.7, and Coleman 47.3.

"It will be exciting to see the final list come out on Tuesday and see who has qualified," added Baltes. "It looks like we will have 12-16 athletes get in. This will be the most men we will travel to a national meet in school history."
