Results

Grand Valley State's outdoor track and field teams had eight athletes record NCAA Qualifying marks this past weekend at the Eastern Michigan Invitational. The Lakers will travel to Hillsdale College to compete in the Hillsdale Gina Relays Thursday thru Saturday.

Kenny Coleman was the Laker on the men's side to set a qualifying time, recording a 47.94 for a third place finish in the 400 meter dash. Also doing well for Grand Valley was Ryan Tibble who finished third in the high jump (6-08.00), Brian Beach who tied for fourth place in the pole vault (15-01.50), and Kevin Kimpel who took third in the javelin throw (53.72m). Ian Morrison placed fifth in the discus (48.15) and eighth in the shot put (50-05.50), while Joe Proulx took fourth in the shot put (52-05.25).

On the women's side, Steph Kuhlman set qualifying times in the 800 as she had a first place time of 2:09.66 and in the 1500, which she won with a time of 4:27.64. Krista O'Dell finished third in the 1500 (4:30.39) and Natalie Ewing took ninth place (4:40.34), both which were qualifying times. Ashley Thomas placed second in the 400 meter dash with a qualifying time of 55.94. Three Laker women qualified in the pole vault, Rachel Duthler, Bethany Hecksell, and Katie Wilkins, all taking second place with a mark of 11-06.00.
