Results

Grand Valley State competed at the Spartan Invitational on Saturday in Lansing, Mich. The Lakers will compete at the Jack Shaw Classic in Kalamazoo, Mich. on Saturday, April 21 at 10:00 a.m.

On the women's side, Liz Shinn finished in 11th place in the 100 meter dash with a time of 13.38 and Katie Mandziara placed ninth in the 200 meter dash (26.70). Micaela Mayer ran a time of 1:01.13 for a fourth place finish in the 400 meter dash and Brandi Murrell placed fourth in the 800 meter run as she ran a time of 2:17.99. Rosanna Chapman finished in seventh place in the 1500 meter run with a time of 4:49.10, while Sarah Kulczycki took sixth place in the 5000 meter run (18:10.67).

In the 100 meter hurdles, Candice Wheat finished in fourth place with a time of 14.78, while Jen Tulpa took ninth place with a time of 15.52. Danielle Fonseca placed fifth in the 400 meter hurdles in a time of 1:06.79, Kirsten Nozime finished in sixth place (1:07.02), and Merradith placed ninth with a time of 1:10.11.

In the field events, Maegan Doyen finished in third place in the high jump with a mark of 5-05.00 and Heather VanderSlik jumped 5-05.00 for a fifth place finish. GVSU had six athletes place in the top eight spot in the pole vault. Rachel Duthler placed second with a jump of 12-05.50, while Lindsey Jones finished in third (11-11.75). Christi Kettelhut took fifth place (11-11.75) and Kellie Kieren jumped 11-05.-75 for sixth place. Bethany Hecksel finished in seventh place with a jump of 11-05.75 and Dianna Noonan tied for eighth place (11-05.75).
 

 

Stephanie Kurcab finished in seventh place in the long jump (16-02.25) and second place in the triple jump with a mark of 37-03.25. Emily Fox took seventh place in the shot put (40-04.00) and Mary Bogner placed sixth in the discus with a throw of 125-09. Fox won the hammer throw with a toss of 166-03 and Bogner finished in ninth place with a mark of 134-06. Bogner also placed sixth in the javelin with a throw of 111-03.

On the men's side, Jake Hendrickson finished in second place in the 200 meter dash with a time of 22.34 and Troy Rock placed fourth as he ran a time of 22.74. Garron Lucius took second place in the 110 meter hurdles in a time of 14.83, Joe LeFevre ran a time of 14.99 for a third place finish, and Joey Latz took 10th with a time of 16.21.

Peter Antor finished in second place in the 400 meter hurdles with a time of 55.73 and LeFevre ran a time of 55.89 for third place. The Lakers 4x100 meter relay team finished second in a time of 42.00, while the 4x400 meter relay team took third with a time of 3:22.01.

In the field events, Nate Miller won the high jump with a mark of 6-08.75. Matt Gordeneer tied for second place in the pole vault with a mark of 15-01.00, Jarrod Tuinstra took seventh (14-07.25), and Joey Latz tied for eighth place with a mark of 14-01.25. Mitch VanPortfleet took ninth in the long jump with a mark of 20-03.75. Ahmed Mahr finished in second place in the discus throw with a toss of 158-04, while Mitch Bosch recorded a seventh place finish with a mark of 140-10. Three Lakers finished in the top five in the hammer throw. Nick Natale finished in second place with a mark of 191-00, Casey Fechter took third (190-07), and Charles Smith placed fifth with a toss of 173-08.
